Hi Lee,
I saw your cover picture from The American Boy Feb 1903 (Sailing vessel). I have a copy of this magazine (it was my fathers) and I was hoping you could enlighten me to what this magazine was? Thanks Lee, any info would be much appreciated.

Hi, Greg.

Here's the link to the Wikipedia entry on the magazine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Boy_(magazine)

And here's a much more detailed piece, mainly focusing on the magazine's science fiction content: http://www.sf-encyclopedia.com/entry/american_boy_the

These describe the magazine better than I could. I have maybe 30 issues, which I bought for the amazing ads and the early cartoons. I feel that modern comic books (1930's-) evolved from youth publications like American Boy more so than from adventure pulps, hence my interest in A. Boy. Hope this helps.

Hi Lee, You wouldn't by chance have a copy of the June 1903 issue, would you? I've been researching my family tree and recently discovered there was a photograph/illustration of 3 boys going fishing (either on the cover or interior) - one of the boys was my great uncle. I've reached out to library's looking for a copy with no luck. I would love to see a copy of this issue! Thanks, Sylvia Heisler

Sylvia--

That's awesome! Let me check my pile. I have a number from that year, so maybe June is in there. I'll get back to you....

Unfortunately, I don't have the June 1903 issue--terribly sorry. I looked through all my copies, and no luck. I'd love to see it myself!

Best of luck in your search. Have you tried eBay? That's where I got mine.

Best,

Lee

Hi Lee,
Thank you ever so much for checking! I think Murphy's Law is working against me... :-) I reached out to the Detroit Library to see if they had the issue since the magazine was published in Detroit but I can't seem to get an answer from them, but I'll keep plugging away. Thank you again and have a safe and great holiday weekend!

The 3 boys one the cover are: Ralph Kesler, Howard Cool and Robert Pence. Robert was my great-uncle.
Any way, just wanted to share...

Merry Christmas,
Sylvia
